Adoption Requirements
Creating a safe, loving home
Home & Housing
Indoor-only: No unsupervised outdoor time or overnight stays outside. (See House Rabbit Society resources at rabbit.org for why indoor housing is safest.)
â
Housing setup: No small commercial cages or hutches. An XL dog crate or exercise pen works well; free-roam with a home base is ideal. Multi-tier wooden hutches are acceptable only if always open and part of a free-roam setup.
Care & Time
Daily exercise: Minimum 3 hours of supervised out-of-enclosure time every day.
Lifetime commitment: Rabbits live 8–12 years (sometimes up to 15). Please consider future changes (moves, new jobs, babies, etc.).
People & Pets
Primary adopter: 21+ years old.
â
Primary caregiver: Must be an adult. Kids and teens can help but cannot be the main caregiver.
â
Other pets: Dogs, cats, and other predatory pets are considered case-by-case for safety and temperament.
Health & Safety
Spay/neuter: No unaltered rabbits in the home unless pre-approved with veterinary documentation. We cannot bond our rabbits with unaltered companions.
â
Smoke-free: No smoking or vaping indoors. Rabbits’ respiratory systems are very sensitive.

Renters
Landlord approval required. Please provide documentation upon request.
Returns
Our safety net: If you cannot keep your rabbit(s) for any reason, they must be returned to Coastal Carolina Rabbit Rescue—no exceptions.
Helpful notes
-
Before buying supplies: If you’re new to rabbits, please wait until after our first call. Many products marketed for rabbits aren’t safe—we’ll share a vetted supplies list.
-
Home check: We’ll ask for photos of your setup or a brief Zoom walkthrough to confirm safety and readiness.
CCRR reserves the right to decline an application if these criteria aren’t met. We’re happy to coach you on meeting them—please reach out at info@carolinarabbits.org

Fees
Adoption fees help cover vet care and supplies. Current fee: $75

Rabbits ready for a loving home
Mina (Benjamina)
Background
Mina came from a trio of rescued rabbits named Flopsy, Mopsy, and Benjamin — a nod to the beloved Beatrix Potter characters. But her journey hasn’t exactly been a fairy tale. Mina has spent years in rescue. She’s not aggressive, but she’s understandably nervous. She’s never known a stable home, and after everything she’s been through, she’s still learning how to trust.
đ Mopsy, her sister, had a rare genetic condition and sadly didn’t survive her alteration surgery.
đ Flopsy found his happy ending — now bonded and thriving with two bunny brothers, Arrow and River.
đ And Benjamin? Turned out to be a girl — lovingly renamed Benjamina, or just Mina for short.
Best Home Match
-
Bunny companion necessary
-
Cats: does well with respectful cats
-
Dogs: currently fearful; a dog-free home is best
-
People: patient, gentle adults who don’t mind moving at Mina’s pace
